Colonel Brett H. Venable
COL Brett H. Venable is a Distinguished Military Graduate of Old Dominion University. He received his commission in the Medical Service Corps while earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating magna cum laude. COL Venable attended graduate school at Syracuse University where he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Whitman School of Management and a Master of Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He also completed a National Security Fellowship at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
COL Venable currently serves as the Director, El Paso Market and Commander, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX. His previous commands include: Commander, Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, NY; Commander, Kenner Army Health Clinic, Fort Lee, VA; Commander, Medical Task Force Shelby, Camp Shelby, MS; and Commander, C Company, 172d Support Battalion, 172d Separate Infantry Brigade, Fort Wainwright, AK.

COL Venable’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit (1OLC), Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 SOLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Device), and Army Meritorious Unit Commendation. He has also earned the Army Staff Identification Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Foreign awards include the German Schutzenschnur and German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge in Gold.
COL Venable is board certified in healthcare management and serves on the Board of Governors for the 48,000 member American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is also a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, ACHE Fellow, and Certified Defense Financial Manager. His professional memberships include the American Society of Military Comptrollers, Phi Kappa Phi, the Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization, and the Business Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Silver Caduceus Association.
COL Venable is the 2015 recipient of the Military Excellence in Healthcare Management Award presented by the American College of Healthcare Executives. His other honors include the Army ACHE Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award, the Army Surgeon General’s 9A Proficiency Designator, and induction into the Order of Military Medical Merit.
