Stay Expectations
Concept of Room-In
We understand that bonding with your baby is very important to you and your family. You, your baby, and one significant member of your family are together (roomed-in) from birth until discharged home
If your baby is healthy and vigorous you may stay together in nthe same room.
Our nursery allows many babies who aren't as vigorous as desired to stay on the same floor as the parents.
How Long is My Stay In Labor and Deliver?
Most families want to go home as soon as possible after the birth of their baby.
At
WBAMC
we try our best to expedite your discharge. Mother and baby is charged home by the
L&D
team if they are doing well and stable after delivery
If this is your first baby, the length of stay is
2 days after vaginal birth
. This is to ensure that you, the new mother, have enough basic knowledge to take care of your new baby
If this is not your first baby, you will be discharged home
1 day after delivery
.
If you have a scheduled C-section, you may be discharged in
1-2 days
.
If you have a non-scheduled C-section, the stay is at least
2 days
.
Will I Be Sent Out for Delivery?
Routine and High Risk Pregnancy beyond 35 weeks of gestational weeks are delivered at
WBAMC
When there are serious conditions affecting the health of you or your baby’s, requiring immediate delivery before 35 weeks, you will be transferred to one of the hospitals in the community that have Neonatal Intensive Care capabilities for further care
On rare occasions, term babies develop problems that requiring more intensive care. They are also sent out for further care
