Commander, Lieutenant Colonel

Willie (Will) McRae III

Lieutenant Colonel Will McRae III, Battalion Commander Soldier Recovery Unit, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, hails from New Orleans, Louisiana. He entered the U.S. Army in 1993 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

LTC McRae’s recent assignments and duty positions include Tactical Control Officer, 3-2 ADA BN, Al Jabbar, Kuwait; Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, Ft. Bliss, TX, 6th ADA BDE; Executive Officer, 2207th Mobilization Support Battalion, El Paso, Texas; Operations Officer, Exercise Branch 2, Pacific Training Division, Ft. Bliss, Texas; BDE/BN Chief Observer-Coach/Trainer and later as Detachment Executive Officer, 1st MCTD, 91st Training Division, Ft Bliss, Texas.

LTC McRae enlisted into the active Army in April 1993 as an 88K – Watercraft Operator and attended Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advance Individual Training at Ft. Eustis. From 1993 to 1995 LTC McRae’s enlisted service included three short tours in support of OPERATION RESTORE HOPE and RESTORE DEMOCRACY and culminated upon his acceptance into the United States Military Academy in 1996. He commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery in May 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he served in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH. From 2003-2005, he served in various leadership positions from Platoon Leader to Brigade Assistant Operations Officer to Observer, Controller-Trainer. In May 2005, LTC McRae transitioned from Active Army to the Individual Ready Reserves. In April 2008, he joined the ranks of the U.S. Army Reserves and continues to serve. LTC McRae has served as a Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, Senior Observer-Coach/Trainer, and Simulation Operations Officer.

LTC McRae’s college education includes a BS, Systems Engineering, USMA; and a Sequential MA, Business and Leadership and Business and Organizational Security Management, Webster University. His Army education includes Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course Graduate, Simulation Operation Course, Doctrine Developer’s Course, Force Management Course, Air Load Planner Course, Airborne School, and Civilian Advanced Leadership Education-Command and General Staff Officer College.

LTC McRae is married to his wife of 20 years, Bambi McRae and has two daughters – Keira and Maliah. He also serves as a 25 year - DA Civilian and is currently working as the Director of the 1st Armored Division Mission Training Complex, Ft. Bliss, TX.

Command Sergeant Major

Mitchell R. Kriebel

Command Sergeant Major Mitchell R. Kriebel hails from Moscow, Idaho. He entered the U.S Army in July of 2004, completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia.     

His assignments include Fort Drum1 BCT, 2-22 INF BN; Joint Base Lewis McCord (JBLM) 2nd BN 364th IN BN; Camp Parks, CA, 401st Medical Logistics Company; Fort McCoy, NCOA; and Camp Murray, 81st SBCT. CSM Kriebel has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Poland, Germany, Honduras for humanitarian relief, combat, contingency, and peacekeeping operations. 

CSM Kriebel’s military schools include: All levels of NCO Professional Development, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command course and Command Sergeant Major Development, Airborne School, Combat life Saver course, Basic Combatives course, Tactical Combatives course, Master Combatives course, The SHARP Foundation course, Master Resilience course, Air load Planner course, Unit Mob Planner course, Army Basic Instructor course, Pre-Ranger course, M101 Crows Net Operator course, OPNETT course, BAE AH XM1220 Caiman course, MAT-V Operator course, MAXX-PRO Operator course, Small Group Instructor Training course. SGM Kriebel has a Senior Logistical Certification from SOLE Technical College, and an Associates Degree in General studies from American Military University (AMU). 

His awards include: Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 SOLC, 1 OLC), Joint Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (1 SOLC, 2 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (1 SOLC, 1 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Armed force Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (3 Stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2 stars), Global War on terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2 OLC), Non-Commissioned Officer Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with M Device, Bronze Hour Glass, Numeral 4), NATO Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Airborne Badge, Army Instructor Badge, Drivers Badge, Washington National Guard Recruiting and Retention Ribbon, Washington National Guard Counter Drug Service Ribbon, Washington National Guard Guardsman Service Ribbon, Nebraska Meritorious Service Medal, Polish Parachutist Badge, German Parachutist Badge, German Physical fitness Badge (Gold), German Schutzenschnur (Silver), Norwegian Foot March Badge (Silver), Recipient of the order(s) of Saint Maurice (legionnaire, centurion), Order of Saint Michael-Airborne (Angelic) and Order of Saint George.

CSM Kriebel is married to Taryn Kriebel and has three children, Austin, Layne and Reddick.

Fort Bliss Soldier Recovery Unit provides command and control, primary medical case management, risk mitigation, and comprehensive transition planning in order to facilitate the medical, social and professional rehabilitation of soldiers to return them to the force or transition them to be productive veterans.
