Commander, Lieutenant Colonel

Willie (Will) McRae III

Lieutenant Colonel Will McRae III, Battalion Commander Soldier Recovery Unit, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, hails from New Orleans, Louisiana. He entered the U.S. Army in 1993 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

LTC McRae’s recent assignments and duty positions include Tactical Control Officer, 3-2 ADA BN, Al Jabbar, Kuwait; Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, Ft. Bliss, TX, 6th ADA BDE; Executive Officer, 2207th Mobilization Support Battalion, El Paso, Texas; Operations Officer, Exercise Branch 2, Pacific Training Division, Ft. Bliss, Texas; BDE/BN Chief Observer-Coach/Trainer and later as Detachment Executive Officer, 1st MCTD, 91st Training Division, Ft Bliss, Texas.

LTC McRae enlisted into the active Army in April 1993 as an 88K – Watercraft Operator and attended Basic Combat Training at Ft. Jackson, SC and Advance Individual Training at Ft. Eustis. From 1993 to 1995 LTC McRae’s enlisted service included three short tours in support of OPERATION RESTORE HOPE and RESTORE DEMOCRACY and culminated upon his acceptance into the United States Military Academy in 1996. He commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery in May 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he served in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH. From 2003-2005, he served in various leadership positions from Platoon Leader to Brigade Assistant Operations Officer to Observer, Controller-Trainer. In May 2005, LTC McRae transitioned from Active Army to the Individual Ready Reserves. In April 2008, he joined the ranks of the U.S. Army Reserves and continues to serve. LTC McRae has served as a Brigade Assistant Operations Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, Senior Observer-Coach/Trainer, and Simulation Operations Officer.

LTC McRae’s college education includes a BS, Systems Engineering, USMA; and a Sequential MA, Business and Leadership and Business and Organizational Security Management, Webster University. His Army education includes Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, Air Defense Artillery Captain’s Career Course, Command and General Staff Officer Course Graduate, Simulation Operation Course, Doctrine Developer’s Course, Force Management Course, Air Load Planner Course, Airborne School, and Civilian Advanced Leadership Education-Command and General Staff Officer College.

LTC McRae is married to his wife of 20 years, Bambi McRae and has two daughters – Keira and Maliah. He also serves as a 25 year - DA Civilian and is currently working as the Director of the 1st Armored Division Mission Training Complex, Ft. Bliss, TX.

Shauntavius Rodriguez

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Rodriguez enlisted in the Georgia
Army National Guard on this day, August 20th, 2001, marking 25 years of dedicated and
distinguished military service.

CSM Rodriguez has held three Military Occupational Specialties (Signal and Ordnance) across a
distinguished career of leadership and technical roles. Her key positions include Senior Wheeled
Vehicle Mechanic, IT Specialist, CND Integrator, IT Section Chief, Operations NCO, First Sergeant,
G6 Information Chief, and Mobilization Sergeant Major.

Her high-profile assignments include tours at the Pentagon (HQDA G-1 and G-3/5/7), the National
Guard Bureau, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Her traditional National Guard service spans
across many areas: maintenance, human resources, battlefield surveillance, Military Intelligence,
maneuver enhancement, and Joint sta􀆯. She has also completed deployments for Operation Noble
Eagle (2003) and Operation Eagle Light in Jordan (2015). She is a current member of the California
National Guard.

A committed Noncommissioned O􀆯icer (NCO), her military education includes Master Resilience
and Master Fitness Trainer certifications, Battle Sta􀆯, and the Senior Instructor Course. She is a
graduate of USASMA Class 51, was the Distinguished Honor Graduate for both her Advanced and
Senior Leader Courses and has completed the Master Leader Course.

A life-long learner, she holds a Master's in Legal Studies, a Bachelor's in Social and Criminal
Justice, an Associate in Criminal Justice, and a Paralegal Certificate. She completed one year of her
Juris Doctor and plans to sit for the Texas Bar. She also holds a Master's in Health and Sports
Sciences, and on path to receiving a second Bachelors in Leadership & Workforce Development.
She is also a NASM-certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist.

CSM Rodriguez’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army
Commendation Medal (Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (Silver Oak Leaf Cluster
and Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National
Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned O􀆯icer
Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal
(Silver Oak Leaf Cluster), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device, Army Reserve Components
Overseas Training Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Georgia Special Operations Ribbon, and the
Georgia National Guard Service Ribbon. She has also earned the Army Sta􀆯 Identification Badge
and the National Guard Bureau Sta􀆯 Identification Badge.

CSM Rodriguez is married to Homero, an Air Force veteran. They have five children: Marco (22),
Yesenia (20), Homero (8), Arnulfo (3), and Daxos (1)..

Fort Bliss Soldier Recovery Unit provides command and control, primary medical case management, risk mitigation, and comprehensive transition planning in order to facilitate the medical, social and professional rehabilitation of soldiers to return them to the force or transition them to be productive veterans.
