Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services (DPALS)*

DPALS is responsible for providing responsive, high quality laboratory testing in support of patient care. DPALS offers clinical pathology services to William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and other medical treatment facilities (MTF) worldwide, using qualified professionals and state of the art methods and instrumentation. 

The Department of Pathology and Area Laboratory Services consists of WBAMC Main Laboratory (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, Anatomic Pathology, Cytology, Histology, Transfusion Services, and Pathology Support), the Biosafety Level III (BSL-III) Laboratory, Point-of-Care Testing (POCT), the outlying clinics, and the Blood Donor Center.

WBAMC DPALS mission is to provide comprehensive care to all beneficiaries including active-duty services members, their family, and retirees.  Our mission is to provide our customers with high-quality timely results that will meet and/or exceed our expectations.

It is the vision of DPALS to be the premier Department of Defense (DoD) laboratory and a leader in providing quality testing and general laboratory services by employing state-of-the-art technology and training.

DPALS goals are to prevent error, ensure patient/product safety and quality, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
