Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP)

The Army Substance Abuse Program falls under MEDCOM policy and is Joint Commission accredited. It is a command-directed program that serves the active duty population, that emphasizes readiness and personal responsibility. The clinic provides individual, group and family counseling for those active duty personnel identified with a substance addiction issue. The clinic will assess the active duty member to identify severity of addiction to a mood-altering chemical and will advise the command group as to whether enrollment or referral to a two day education class is warranted. The clinic also assesses for referrals to partial/in-patient programs for substance addiction. Referrals can be made via self-referral, command referral, medical referral, biochemical referral and/or investigation/apprehension referral.
