During this time of uncertainty, WBAMC has updated its visitor policy to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.  As the disease is easily spread, we must take extreme measures to limit the spread and to protect our patients and staff.

Effective April 8, 2020, WBAMC will adopt and enforce the following changes and these changes will apply throughout all medical facilities until further notice.
During this public health emergency, WBAMC will not allow visitation of any patient with the exception of the following categories:

  • Laboring and post-partum patients who can have only one support person with them.  The support person cannot be symptomatic or known to be positive for COVID-19 infection.

  • Patients at risk for imminent death (within 24 hours).  The visitor cannot be symptomatic or known to be positive for COVID-19 infection.

  • Post-operative visits to patients who underwent emergency or trauma surgery.  Visitor cannot be known to be positive for COVID-19 infection or be symptomatic.  Visitation to these post-operative patients will only be allowed during the first two days after the operation, unless allowed by the attending staff physician.

  • Elderly or disabled patients requiring assistance to their appointments.  After bringing the patient to their appointment, the attendant must leave the facility.  The clinic or unit will call attendant when patient is ready to depart WBAMC, in order to assist in leaving.

  • Symptomatic visitors will not be allowed into the facility.

  • No one under the age of 17 will be allowed to visit.

  • All visitors will wear a surgical mask throughout their visit, and other PPE as directed by nursing or medical staff.

  • Visitors will not be allowed to wait in a lobby or waiting room.

  • The Attending medical provider may limit visitors as clinically indicated.

  • If you have questions about these mitigation changes to our visitor policy, please call the WBAMC Provost Marshall at (915) 742-3657.
